It can be treated through a proper and balanced diet which helps promote a healthy digestive tract. There are certain kind of meals and diets which helps treat anal fissures.

For the initial treatment, The American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons suggests that constipation and diarrhea shall first be treated. Fried and fatty food should be limited if you cannot completely remove it from your diet. Constipation is generally by foods which contain high amount of fat and low fiber. Therefore, to avoid this, a high fiber diet is recommended. The daily recommended fiber intake is 25 to 30 grams but people with anal fissures should increase fiber intake. Fiber is usually found in fruits, vegetables and grains.  Our body cannot digest this type of fiber. The insoluble fiber that are in plant leaves, peels and skins helps make the stool pass easier. That is why it is recommended to include fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains in your daily diet. You can also stick to a vegetarian diet if possible, and eat your veggies with the skin.

In order to increase fiber intake, replace refined grains with whole grains, and white rice with brown rice. You should also eat whole fruits and vegetables than juices. Another alternative is legumes, instead of meat.

Good sources of fiber include prunes, citrus fruits, beans and peas, oat bran, wheat bran, raw juice. Unrefined foods with low sugar content should also be included in your anal fissure diet. Examples of this are onions, cabbage, tomatoes and green leafy vegetables. Lentils, molasses, beets and pumpkins are also suggested to be included in an anal fissure diet. You can also add bitter gourd, black musale (Kali musli), Kareer (ker). These are said to be beneficial. As mentioned above, whole grain such as breads, cereals, pastas, nuts, popcorns, oatmeal and brown rice are also good sources. However, nuts and popcorns, together with tortilla chips, may not be digested well so it is recommended to be avoided.

You should also increase liquid intake. During the first few days, you should drink raw juices (pineapple, orange and carrots are good choices). The ideal interval is every two hours. Do not forget to drink plenty of water. Also, take stool softeners or fiber supplement at times to make stool easier to pass. It will help prevent the constipation.

Exercise is also beneficial to you. However, if you are pregnant, you should exercise under professional supervision. It is also encouraged to reduce weight if you are over-weight.

The above-mentioned kind of meals and diets which helps treat anal fissures are not hard to follow. To people with anal fissures, you can require your own diet and do some changes on your regular diet. It will definitely help treat your anal fissure effectively.
