Are hiccups, heartburn, morning sickness and vertigo related to anal fissure?

Anal fissures are often overlooked and sometimes misunderstood as a medical condition. How are they formed? Are hiccups, heartburn, morning sickness and vertigo related to anal fissure? To truly understand this condition, one must first separate fact from fiction and below are several misconceptions about this condition that needs to be put to rest.

Smoking Causes Fissures

The truth is that smoking is not a direct cause of fissures in the anus. The tobacco in smoking has effects that target the respiratory and pulmonary systems of the body, not the digestive and circulatory organs.

However, smoking does alter the body in a way that it is more vulnerable to the formation of fissures. Asthma caused by smoking, for instance, can cause some muscle spasms in the body which can inflict constant strain on the anal area.  Also, tobacco impedes the body’s ability to heal itself which can aggravate an existing fissure even further.

Infection is Unavoidable

It might seem that the fissure might get infected sooner or later as it is located close to a major pathway for solid waste. However, this is not always the case as fissures located further from the rectum tend to not get as infected as much as those near it.

There is also the matter of one’s hygiene as a factor. People with fissures that are not thorough in cleaning their anal areas after defecation leave the fissure vulnerable to bacteria. Those that clean it properly and employ non-abrasive cleaning agents, on the other hand, can protect the fissure from foreign objects and allow it to heal as quickly as possible.

Only Bowel Conditions Cause Fissures

It is a popular misconception that only conditions like constipation, bowel inflammatory diseases, and other internal problems can cause anal fissures. The truth is that any sort of pressure on the anal area can cause a strain in the lining which, in turn, causes it to tear up.

Other conditions like childbirth, the insertion of rectal thermometers, and other accidents where the rectum is pierced can lead to the development of an anal fissure. Also, if one has a preference for anal sex and is always at the receiving end of it, they can expect that the constant pressure can cause the lining in the anus to break which leads to the formations of fissures.

Anal Fissures Is Linked to Some Diseases

Are hiccups, heartburns, morning sickness, and vertigo related to anal fissure? The answer is no as no medical research has established a direct link between these conditions and the formation of anal fissures. From the surface, it can also be said that the effects of these conditions do not in any way affect the anus to even be an indirect cause of anal fissures.

As for tumors, there is no direct link between it and anal fissures but there have been cases where the spontaneous development of fissures has been attributed as a primary symptom of anal cancer. In such a case, it is best to consult with a medical professional first before making a conclusion.
