Best vitamins and minerals to heal anal fissures

Anal fissure is a rupture or tear in the anal canal. Symptoms of this condition include bloody stools, extreme pain during and after bowel movements that can last for several hours and irritation occurring in the anus.

Vitamin C

Aside from building collagen, Vitamin C, which is also an antioxidant, has an ability to fight infections and is considered as a remedy for constipation. This is also used as a treatment for bacterial vaginosis, a type of vaginal infection caused by bacteria.  If you’re quite hesitant to take supplements, you can eat Vitamin C rich foods instead. Citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges are examples of foods rich in this vitamin.

Vitamin B Complex

Certain vitamins from the B complex also have abilities to help those with anal fissures. Vitamin B-5 (Pantothenic acid) can aid those people with constipation. For people with low levels of vitamin B-12 (cobalamin) and B-1 (thiamine), they can take the said vitamins to speed up their digestion. It is recommended for adults to take 1.1 mg of B-1 and 2.4 micrograms daily to ensure proper health. On the other hand, 4-7 mg is the recommended daily intake for Vitamin B-5.
